I was always taught is school way back there that the various forms of Government decended in this order from best to worst.

1) Democracy
2) Republic
3) Beauracy
4) Socialistic
5) Communistic
6) Dictatorship

They based this scales upon the amount of power that the people are given or are empowered with in making the decisions within each of these forms of Government. Each form of government has its good points and its bad.

THAT Is what the American Civil War was fought over what form of Government would this country live under. Today we have a Beauracy trending towards Socialism.

It all depends upon ones attitude as to how much a person wants to be self supporting and how much you want the Government to do for you to strike the perfect balance better the Good and the Bad points of each.

For example in a Dictatorship you don't have the expense of a large governmental organization except for the Police necessary to enforce Governmental edicts. And it is the most effective form of Government. Nobody questions the authority of the government. BUT, are you willing to have no say what so ever in what your government does?
