During the War for Southern Independence, they had 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sergeants likewise with Corporals.
The First Sergeant was first in the rank, the 1st Corporal fell in to his left. On the other end of the rankwas the Second Sergeant last and the Second Corporal on his right.
The 2nd Sergeant's job was keeping the rank aligned and setting the positions of the rank when called into company from a marching formation of four. Needless to say the 2nd Sergeant ran a lot in a battle.
The third and fourths acted the same way in formation behind the first rank.
