I have done quite a bit of Confederate reserach on my family lines and men of the 7th Mississippi. I have paid roughly $300 for CSRs from the State of Mississippi, this is for copies only, as a resident I get the research time free. I would like to point out that I have never saw race mentioned on any of these records, not once.

Not as to blacks being farmers and such while the whites were fighting, I have letters that prove that point, on the other hand I have CSRs that show one of my disabled (WIA)uncles as a rancher in the Confederate army. It sorta apperas to me that each man just did his part.
