If you read Dr. Bergeron's original post you will see his comments were made to refute the notion that the entire Louisiana Native Guards simply switched uniforms. He is right in saying this because most people spout that idea as fact. Your yourself proved this when you wrote...

You are evidently a very learned individual who seems well up on the political and social events of the war. If you had never been able to learn this during your previous studies, how then are school aged children going to discover this when they are always given false information in history classes. I speak from experience as just last year my 12 year old son had to endure a teacher telling him that the first chance the Native Guards got they quickly went over to the Union. She never bothered to mention the fact of anybody being a volunteer. No surprise there. This same woman told my son that Andrew Jackson should not be honored (my son's maternal is from New Orleans, some live at Barataria) and that all "southern people were too lazy to work for themselves so they had slaves do it for them".
