Pam. we were there at the same time, I was living in Destin, FL. at the time I was recalled from the inactive reserve and Polk was closed when we got there. We re opened the south fort and moved to the north fort when they started basic training for the 4th Army. When I got out I moved back to FL for a short time before moving back to Al. Moved back to Destin when I retired. Opal and Irwin chased me back to AL in 1994. wish I had not left. don't like what Destin has become, but I sure miss the seafood and deep sea fishing. Need to get back to support the people that depend on the 100 day summer for a living.
