Stan it is incredible given Forrest's fame and influence during the War that the CSA government would continue to ignore this prime example. Forrest was proving in action what Cleburne and Ewell and others had tried to convince in theory to those opposed to using armed slaves as soldiers, that with emancipation it could be done throughout the South in numbers large enough to make a difference.
Southern Independence was thrown away by CSA policy and Forrest's experience proves it.
