New uniforms in mid 1863 could have been made from English Army cloth. It is a well documented fact that this cloth was being used in late 1863 through the end of the war. There is also some evidence which suggests that this cloth may have been used earlier. The Coleman jacket pictured on the following page is made of this material which is blue. Coleman was in the 6th SC Inf.
