My ancestor was in Co. "K" and I will share pic
Hello Jim,
As said before, my gr gr grandfather John Warren White, from Spartanburg, S.C. served in the Spartan Rifles, first a corporal in Co."K", 5th S.C., then as a 1st Lt. in the same company but in the Palmetto Sharpshooters. He was very severely wounded at Seven Pines and resigned due to loss of use of one arm (I don't know if this was temporary or not). Later he reenlisted in his same company ("K"), Palmetto Sharpshooters, as a Private. In an effort to retake Ft. Harrison he was shot through the neck and his one remaining brother out of four tried to take him home to S.C.. He died in Danville, Va..
I have a pic of him a few years before the war and a pic of someone "I think" might be him in uniform. I have had the two pics compared by experts and opinions vary, some say it is the same man, just older, some say it is someone different. If anyone wants a copy of the pic/s e-mail me at k98@elmore.rr.com .
Take care,
Dave
