Thanks for your reply. The records still show him as a deserter? It says that in 1913, after many veterans wrote letters on his behalf, that his pension was granted. I hate to think that the records still show him as a deserter. My Dad said that he was very proud man. I thought when they gave him his pension, they might have cleared his name and fixed the record. How sad.
