My GGrandfather was in Co. K, Palmetto Sharpshooters. He was wounded at Fraysers's Farm and spent about the next year in different hospitals recuperating. He was later transferred to Hampton's Infantry Legion. When my son and I followed the battle-sites of the 5th, the Struck Eagle was an excellent guide.
