Chase --
The ones I have in mind usually have to do with local issues, such as a Confederate memorial or a Confederate symbol or a Confederate leader. The 'T' word (and the 'R' word) frequently pop up when someone wants to rename "Jeff Davis High School" or "Robert E. Lee Drive" &c.
As I recall, the most recent rants in my area involved a Forrest statue in Selma AL. Similar issues have been raised against Forrest in Memphis TN. I'm sure you're aware of these kind of issues.
Some of these folks compare Confederates to Nazis, fascists &c. It's like someone wrote a script that anti-Confederate protesters can use -- just fill in the blanks, and instant controversy!
