I appreciate what you're saying about Indians in terms of our past. For what it's worth, my wife's ancestor was Roger Williams, who founded the colony of Rhode Island after being banished from Massachusetts. Williams had objected to taking Indian lands by force, a position that angered many Puritans.
Programs like "The Gray Ghost" and "The Rebel" ran on TV fifty years ago. A lot of water has gone over the dam since them. As you saw, articles and surveys which showed Northern bias against white Southerners also ran during those years, along with whatever negative articles might have appeared about African-Americans and Hispanics. Now they're gone (that's good), and we're left with media antagonism towards Southerners in general and Confederate heritage in particular. Maybe they'll disappear one day, too, but I'm not holding my breath.
You misread my earlier post -- I'm okay with insults directed towards me. I'm not okay with insults directed towards Southerners of any color, and particularly those directed against Confederates. Given Jim Martin's guidelines about posts of this kind, I sorta expected regulars understood the boundaries, but looks like I'm mistaken again.
