I don't believe I said the South changed in its ideals. The South was forced "because of their ideals" to change from Democrat to Republican because one party abandoned them and the other was a weaker alternative. It looks as if the South pretty muched owned the Republicans up until G.W. Bush got the White House and then control went to more liberal powers; but its too early for me to write that history.
