Re: A New Constitution
In Response To: Re: A New Constitution ()

We are supposed to go back to Civil War subjects, and this barely qualifies but....

The Confederate states issue with states rights in 1860 was not about amendments or the laws within the Constitution, theirs was an exact copy- give or take a word. It was with the illegality of the one state invading another by armed forces, federal coercion against the states, the arrest of state governments, the right to self determination and a better union, etc.

In Mississippi's defence- backing the 18th was protecting its right to stay a dry state and not be effected by outside forces. ________________________
